Crust (Makes 1 thick pizza crust or 2 thin crusts):
1 T. dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
2 T. vegetable oil
1 t. sugar
1 t. salt
Pizza Sauce (Enough for 2 pizzas):
1-15 oz can tomato sauce, unsalted
1 1/2 t. cracked black pepper
1 1/2 T. oregano
1 1/2 t. garlic powder
1 1/2 t. onion powder
1 T. lemon juice (optional)
Pizza Toppings:
1/2 cup green bell peppers, diced
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
1/8 cup black olives per pizza
1 cup pepperoni slices per pizza
1 cup low-fat mozzarella cheese, grated
Dissolve yeast in warm water in large bowl; add other crust ingredients. Mix with large spoon, about 20 strokes. Let rise in bowl for 15-30 minutes. Heat oven 425 degrees. Divide dough into pans spray with non-stick spray and spread out according to your thickness tastes. Spoon on pizza sauce. Top crust with suggested topping or your favorite toppings.
Cook 20-25 minutes until dough is done. Top with cheese and return to oven to melt cheese.
Makes 12 servings.
